What is Avodah?

What does 'Avodah' mean?
Avodah is a unique word as it has three meanings. It is an ancient Hebrew word used often in the Old Testament which refers to 'work', 'prayer' and 'service' all at the same time. Avodah seemed a fitting word for what I wanted my career in Massage Therapy to be like. Being a massage therapist is my profession but it is inseperable from who I am as an individual. I want to serve my community in a wholesome, honest, dedicated way. I want to be great at my job, at helping people, and I want my work to bring glory to God.

'Avodah' means that prayer and gratitude to God are a part of everything I do including my professional work. I wanted to be able to show up to work authentically, as a deeply Catholic woman with an integrated faith. That is how 'Avodah' came to be.
